Nine Inch Nails GhostTrent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails put his money where his mouth was. Trent Reznor an outspoken advocate for file sharing his band's music, has released Ghosts Volume I-IV, allowing volume one to be downloaded via the website www.nin.com Here is a track from Volume One...

There is definitely an edge throughout all the instrumental Volume One and Trent is probably right... it is an album that Record companies probably would not release as is. This does not make it bad, quite the contrary, it makes it a lot more enjoyable. In this format, without these barriers we get a purer glimpse into the minds of the artists. What this reminds me of is back in the day, before music downloads, when album tracks were intentionally ordered. In the digital age we seem to just play whatever we want to consume. With Ghosts, since it is in essence free, you are curious about what the whole album(s) means. Oddly after listening to volume one, to my ears, it seemed there was some cohesion to it all.

Here is Track 7 from Ghosts Volume One....

Volume One is free from the Nine Inch Nails website You can download volumes 1 to 4 for $5. Though you can find all volumes on Bittorrent, legally, for free.
